At the dawn of the digital historic period, the possibilities seemed endless. With things like the internet, blogs, e-mail, interactive and super-realistic video games and more it promised a smarter extension. With these tools, we would for sure progress to a sharper, more cultured, more educated youth in America. Teenagers would spend the tools available to them to gain more companionship and their technological expertise would be put to good use; the future was bright on the horizon of potential. Sadly, the opposite happened. Although this times enjoys better access to information, literature, art, education, m 1y etc. than ever before, nearly young people do not read literary works and many possess less than adequate literacy levels. They wish basic skills and knowledge about the world, history, science and politics. Social networking and texting have changed the way we communicate and discounted the relationships we form with others. Though this seems like the age old argument that young people are ignorant, studies of this generation now back up this startling reality: engineering and the digital age have had a negative mend on the intellectual habits, social skills, life skills, emotional cognizance and wellbeing, health and overall humanity of society, especially this generation.
