African Americans (also referred to as Black Americans or Afro-Americans, and formerly as
American Negroes) argon citizens or residents of the unite States who have origins in any of the
black populations of Africa. In the united States, the terms argon generally used for Americans
with at least partial sub-Saharan African ancestry. Most African Americans are the direct
descendants of captive Africans who survived the slavery era within the boundaries of the
present United States, although some are descended from immigrants from African, Caribbean,
Central American or southeasterly American nations. African American history starts in the seventeenth century
with indentured servitude in the American colonies and progresses onto the election of an
African American as the 44th and current President of the United Statesâ€"Barack Obama.
Between those landmarks there were other events and issues, both resolved and ongoing that
were faced by African Americans. Some of these were: slavery, reconstruction, development of
the African- American community, participation in the great military conflicts of the United
States, racial segregation, and the Civil Rights Movement.




Blacks were altered by the dual labor mart in the sense of blacks not given any pregnant
job with any kind of significant pay organize or benefits. Blacks also participated in the
affirmative action indemnity because it was a set of public policies and initiatives designed to help
run past and present discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Forms of double jeopardy are also aimed at African American felons who have served their time
and are clam up banned from voting for a life time. This practice punishes offenders twice. The icing
ceiling, glass walls, and glass escalators all have an ill affect on African Americans in all areas of
